Jason Cassell, Director of Bands

Jason.jpg

Mr. Cassell is the Director of Bands at Truman High School, where he has been teaching since 2001. He began his musical career in the 5th grade playing trumpet, though he eventually moved to percussion - the instrument he played while he marched with the Truman TNT Marching Band. He went on to receive a Bachelor's in Music Education from Wayne State University in 2001 and also a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College in 2005.

Mr. Cassell's students describe him as "..funny, caring, motivating, and inspirational.." and consider joining the marching band under his direction as "..really beneficial!"

Jessica is the color guard instructor and designer with the Truman TNT Marching Band. She began her freshman year with the marching band playing the flute, though found her home with the guard in 2004 where she marched two wonderful seasons before graduating and moving on to teaching in 2006. Jessica recieved an Associate's in Business Administration from Henry Ford Community College in 2008 and plans on attending the David Pressley School of Cosmetology in the fall. She also marches on the flagline with the Ancora A Independent Winter Guard.

Jessica considers her work with the Truman Guard to be "..extremely rewarding" and plans to stay with them "until I'm so old I have to roll around the field in a wheel-chair".

Briana recently joined the color guard staff as an assistant instructor and rifle choreographer for the 2008 season. She began her marching career with the Livonia Franklin High School Marching Band before graduating in 2008. She is also involved with the Ancora A Independent Winter Guard, where she has marched flag and rifle line for two consecutive seasons. She plans on attending Henry Ford Community College this fall to pursue a career in architecture, with hopes of transferring to Bowling Green University in Bowling Green, Ohio.

We hope that Briana will survive camp this year and return for many seasons to come!
